Fire dept. saves 30 to 40% on IT costs
(Goshen, Ky.) Jan. 12, 2017 — AGC has enabled North Oldham Fire Department to save 30 to 40% in monthly IT and networking costs while benefiting from an advanced system with robust security protocols.
That’s good news for the department and residents of Oldham County Kentucky, a picturesque community located 20 miles northeast of Metro Louisville. Any operational advantage strengthens the department’s ability to focus on what matters: saving lives and property when seconds count.
“I’m super satisfied,” said Tim Conway, Fire Chief for North Oldham Fire Protection District. “We seemed to get a lot of bang for our buck with AGC.”

AGC’s first task was to visit Conway at the Goshen Station and listen to the department’s technology goals. AGC then installed solutions to update and maintain the department’s entire data network, looking at workstations, servers and security firewalls. This included protecting the Wi-Fi network from potential hackers.
“It’s nice to be able to text, call or send an email and talk to AGC right away,” Conway added. “It helps to call someone I know. With AGC, you’re more than just a number.”
Central to the strategy was deployment of AGC’s managed IT services, known as iCheck. This service monitors the network’s health and wellbeing on a 24-7 basis by technicians Conway knows by name. AGC can even resolve incidents before they occur, from potential failures to hardware fixes. AGC also has a solution for backing up all data, folder by folder.
Additionally, the fire department received the latest cloud-based operating platform, a Microsoft product installed and maintained by AGC, a preferred Microsoft capabilities expert. New workstations replaced older models where necessary and a new server was installed as well.
Added Conway: “We now have a system that’s easier, runs more smoothly and saves costs.”
